1998: 21st Anniversary Year

A record number of perfect scores have resulted from the 1998 paper. Ten perfect scores were achieved in Australia and 1 in New Zealand.

A record 23 perfect scores were recorded in Singapore. Because of the criteria for an AMC Medal requiring outstanding performance on an international and regional basis a re-examination was held for the first time ever to determine the Singapore medallists. There are also four perfect scores in Bulgaria.

The Australian and New Zealand Medallists were presented with their medals by the Governor of South Australia, Sir Eric Neal AC CVO at Government House Adelaide on Tuesday 3 November.

The Singapore Medallists were presented with their medals by The Australian Deputy High Commissioner to Singapore, His Excellency Mr David Pearce, at a function at the High Commission on Tuesday 27 October.

The Brunei Darussalam medal was presented at a function at the University of Brunei Darussalam by Permanent Head of Education Datin Paduka on Friday 30 October.

The Philippine Medallists were awarded in Manila on 5 March 1999, by Mr Nicholas Coppell, Chargé d' Affaires of the Australian Embassy in Manila.
