Our team competed against 196 young women from 49 countries and achieved an outstanding result, winning two silver medals and two honorable mentions for Australia. The team smashed expectations with Australia placing 14th out of 50 counties.

  • Eva Ge, 15: Honorable Mention
  • Grace He, 16: Silver Medal
  • Vicky Feng, 17: Honorable Mention
  • Evgeniy Artemova, 17: Silver Medal
  • Thanom Shaw (Team Leader)

The continuing emergence of future female maths leaders like Eva, Grace, Vicky and Evgeniy is a testament to how hard Australia’s STEM community and in particular the Australian Maths Trust has worked to make mathematics a profession attainable and accepted for women.

“The European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad is invaluable in giving girls who are talented in maths the opportunity to represent their country and perform on an international stage. The confidence that comes with that is priceless, both for the girls who compete and for mathematically talented and curious girls all over Australia who are in need of a greater number of role models and goals to which they can aspire. The future is looking bright Australian girls in mathematics.” – Thanom Shaw (Team Leader)
