Code Academy

An expansive learn to code platform aimed at adult professionals but simple enough for secondary students too. Courses for most programming languages. Free, with some premium features.

Code Camp

For those who prefer the human touch, Australian kids coding juggernaut Code Camp runs holiday camps, in-school and after school programs catering for kids 5+. Also offers teacher PD and coaching. Various prices.


An introduction to coding built by MIT for absolute beginners and children 8+. Learn basic coding concepts by joining coding ‘blocks’ together to build interactive stories and games. Free, with excellent teacher resources.

Grasshopper is an app-based learning environment that gamifies learning JavaScript for absolute beginners. With fun, quick games and instant feedback, students unlock achievements and level up. Free.

Grok Learning

An Australian learn to code platform backed by The University of Sydney, this is a comprehensive resource with games, competitions and a leaderboard. Free for teachers, from $5 per student.
