The Trust congratulates Cheryl Praeger, who served as an inaugural AMT Board member in and Chair of the Australian Mathematical Olympiad Committee on her receipt of the Companion (AC) in the General Division of the Order of Australia yesterday.
Cheryl was nominated “For eminent service to mathematics, and to tertiary education, as a leading academic and research, to international organisations, and as a champion of women in STEM careers.”
Cheryl’s contributions to the Trust over nearly 30 years have been invaluable, especially in the leadership of Australia’s highly successful mathematical Olympiad programs, the focus on increasing Australian girls’ participation in mathematical competitions, especially the European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad, and in securing Australia’s bid to host the International Mathematical Olympiad in Melbourne in 2025.
